Summer Sounds Fill the Air: Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band Performs in Millville
The weather couldn’t have been better this Sunday evening as the Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band brought their lively summer concert series to Veterans Memorial Park in Millville. The free performance, held on July 13 at 6 p.m., drew residents of all ages who gathered with lawn chairs, blankets, and a love for local music.
As part of their 2025 summer tour, the band has already visited several towns across the Blackstone Valley region—including Mendon, Whitinsville, and Charlton—sharing music with communities throughout the area. Their Millville performance featured “The Wide World of Marches,” offering a spirited and family-friendly evening of music that celebrated the timeless energy of the marching tradition.
The event was extra special for Millville, as it featured local clarinetist Diane Lockwood, performing proudly with the ensemble in her hometown.

It’s moments like this that remind us what makes small towns special.
Neighbors gathered, music filled the air, and for one beautiful summer evening, Millville was wrapped in the simple joy of live performance. It didn’t cost a thing—just a blanket, a chair, and a little time to enjoy something meaningful together. These are the sounds of community.
A heartfelt thank-you to the Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band, the performers, organizers, and everyone behind the scenes who made this evening possible. Your time, talent, and dedication brought joy to this small town and everyone who came out to listen.
