Blackstone’s Lauren Taylor Advances Skills in Municipal Leadership

Lauren Taylor Earns Suffolk MMA Certificate, Strengthens Blackstone’s Town Leadership
The Town of Blackstone has announced that Assistant Town Administrator and Town Accountant Lauren Taylor has successfully completed the Suffolk University/Massachusetts Municipal Association (MMA) Certificate in Local Government Leadership and Management. The news was mentioned during a recent Board of Selectmen meeting and shared officially in a press release this week.
Taylor completed the graduate-level program earlier this month. The Suffolk-MMA certificate is designed to strengthen leadership, budgeting, and strategic planning skills among municipal professionals through real-world, practice-based coursework.
Taylor has worked for the Town of Blackstone since 2014, starting part-time and working her way into full-time roles within the Collector/Treasurer and Accounting Offices. Today, she holds one of the town’s most critical dual roles—supporting both day-to-day financial operations and long-term administrative planning.
If you’ve attended a local board or committee meeting, you’ve likely seen Taylor in action—answering questions on everything from project costs to annual budgeting, often with clarity and confidence.
Why It Matters
- Experienced Financial Oversight: As Town Accountant, Taylor plays a vital role in ensuring Blackstone’s budgets are balanced, bills are paid, and projects are properly funded.
- Informed Leadership: Her completion of this program ensures she’s up to date on best practices in municipal finance and personnel management.
- Community Transparency: Taylor is often the person explaining complicated funding issues during meetings, helping residents and boards better understand how taxpayer dollars are managed.
- Ongoing Commitment: This achievement reflects a commitment to professional development and to strengthening the town’s ability to serve residents efficiently and effectively.
