Who’s That in the Yellow Jacket?

Meet Flat Luce: A Faith-Filled Companion for Your Family Adventures

Have you seen a small traveler in a yellow jacket around town this summer? Maybe in a family photo at the park, the grocery store, or even at the beach? You’re not imagining things. That’s Flat Luce (pronounced Lu-Chay).

Flat Luce is part of a special summer activity through the Religious Education program at Divine Mercy Parish. She’s a pocket-sized, paper version of Luce, the official mascot of the 2025 Jubilee.

Designed by artist Simone Legno and introduced by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Luce wears a yellow rain jacket, carries a pilgrim’s staff, and has bright, glowing eyes meant to reflect the light of hope, peace, and spiritual connection. She’s a symbol of welcome, journeying, and faith—and this summer, she’s making her way into the daily lives of local families.

Students and families in the program are invited to bring Flat Luce along on their summer adventures. That could mean vacations, errands, or even quiet moments at home. She’s more than just a travel buddy. Flat Luce is a symbol of togetherness, faith, and the journey we all share.

If you’re part of the Religious Education program and haven’t picked up your own Flat Luce yet, you can do so at Divine Mercy Parish. Participants are invited to share photos of Flat Luce on their family adventures—just send them to reled@divinemercyparishma.com.

If you’re curious about the program—or spotted Flat Luce out in the wild—you’re welcome to reach out. Contact the Religious Education Office at Divine Mercy Parish to learn more.

It’s a simple and meaningful way to explore faith, family, and community all summer long.
