June 2025 Mosquito Spraying in Blackstone & Millville: What Residents Need to Know
As mosquito season approaches, Blackstone and Millville residents can expect targeted mosquito control treatments throughout June. As part of the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project (CMMCP), both towns benefit from comprehensive mosquito management that goes beyond spraying, including larval control, public education, and source reduction.
June 2025 Spray Schedule for Blackstone and Millville
The CMMCP spray program begins on June 2, weather permitting. Spraying in Blackstone and Millville is scheduled for the following Mondays in June:
- June 2
- June 9
- June 16
- June 23
- June 30
🔔 Important: These dates are tentative and may change due to weather, mosquito population levels, or virus activity. Daily updates are posted after 3:30 PM on the CMMCP website and phone line (508-393-3055).
How Mosquito Spraying Works
CMMCP uses a method called Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) spraying, which allows small amounts of diluted pesticide to be dispersed into the air as a fine mist — sort of like a giant aerosol can on the back of a truck.
These trucks use computer-controlled sprayers and typically move at 10–15 mph, allowing the mist to drift into areas where mosquitoes are most active. Spraying takes place in the evening, when mosquitoes are leaving wooded areas and moving into open spaces to feed.

Because of how the spray drifts, the trucks don’t need to drive into your backyard — the mist will naturally reach those areas. CMMCP does not go off paved or hard-packed roads to avoid private property and liability concerns.
You may start to notice a difference within a few days, but full effectiveness can take up to a week. If mosquitoes are still a problem, you can always submit another request for service.
