Meet Jillies Flowers: Local Florist in Blackstone MA

Growing with Grace: Jillies Flowers Brings Handcrafted Florals to Blackstone

If you’ve driven down County Street and spotted a pop-up flower stand, or scrolled past a post about fresh bouquets in a local Facebook group, you may have already seen a bit of Jillies Flowers in bloom.

Jillian Carlson, woman behind Jillies Flowers in Blackstone, MA

Behind those bouquets is Jillian Carlson, a local florist who turned a personal setback into a fresh start. After the flower shop where she worked closed in January, Jillian decided to open her own floral business — working out of her home in Blackstone, where she now creates arrangements for weddings, funerals, proms, events, and everyday occasions.

Jillies Flowers officially launched in April 2024, but the idea had been budding long before.

“I loved what I did — it was my passion,” says Jillian. “When the shop closed, I was so disappointed. But I decided to take it into my own hands and open my own business.

A Local Business with Heart

Jillian takes orders through her website, offers local delivery, and sets up a self-serve flower stand in front of her home at 51 County Street on days when fresh bouquets are ready — typically 3 to 4 times a week. Pick-up orders are always welcome, and the standard $13.95 local delivery fee is waived for customers who choose to stop by.

Her flowers are sourced from wholesale companies nearby, many of which import blooms internationally. She handles all the design herself, crafting arrangements that reflect her own style and care.

For those ordering a quick gift or everyday bouquet, turnaround is fast — often within an hour. Funeral pieces typically need a day or two, and weddings should be booked well in advance to reserve availability.

Rooted in the Community

Building a small business in Blackstone carries personal meaning for Jillian. She says being part of a flower shop that once grew in a small town helped shape her perspective — and she now hopes to grow something similar on her own terms.

Local communities have already shown strong support. Her first vendor event, held at Vandervalk Winery in Mendon, left a lasting impression.

To see the amount of customer support that day… it made me tear up,” she said.

In addition to fulfilling daily orders, Jillian is steadily expanding her presence at local markets. She also runs vendor events of her own in the Attleboro area — helping other small businesses find their footing, too.

Upcoming appearances include:

  • June 29 – Vandervalk Winery, Mendon | 12–5PM
  • July 13 – Norton Attleboro YMCA, 537 Pleasant St. | 10AM–5PM
  • Plus dates at Moon Market at Diamond Hill Vineyard, Phantom Farm, Native Sun, Mansfield Market, and more

Jillian also finds small ways to give back — sometimes leaving out free flowers, or giving some to the senior center.

A Simple Goal: Make Someone’s Day

When asked what she hopes people feel when they receive her flowers, Jillian answered simply: joy.

That intention carries through everything she does — from her seasonal bouquets on County Street to the careful prep behind every wedding she takes on. Her favorite flower, the dahlia, reflects her approach: versatile, vibrant, and full of variety.

What’s not perfect about them?” she said. “They come in all different colors, shapes, sizes, and varieties. They’re amazing.

It’s a fitting favorite for someone building a business that’s still unfolding — colorful, personal, and always made with care.
