Now You Can Listen to Small Town Post: Audio Articles Are Here!

This Independence Day, we’re celebrating what it means to build a more inclusive community. And now, there’s a whole new way to stay connected: you can listen to Small Town Post articles with our new audio feature! At Small Town Post, that means making sure our local stories are available to everyone.

Starting this week, we’re rolling out a brand-new text-to-speech feature—so you can now listen to select articles right on the site. Whether you’re commuting, walking the dog, or doing dishes, now you can listen to Small Town Post and stay in the loop. Just tap the play button at the top of supported articles and listen in.

Why Listening to Small Town Post Matters

It makes our content more accessible to readers with visual impairments or reading challenges.
It’s Perfect for busy folks who want to catch up on local news on the go.
It opens the door to multilingual audio options (more on that below!).

How We’re Writing for the Ear—So You Can Listen to Small Town Post Clearly

Now that articles are being read aloud, we’re also thinking about how they sound. Some stories may feel a little more conversational—because we’re making them easier to follow whether you’re reading or listening.

That means shorter sentences, clearer phrasing, and fewer things like “see below” or abbreviations that don’t translate well in audio. We’re still sharing heartfelt, community-focused stories—but now, we’re doing it in a way that speaks to everyone.

About the audio

We’re using a plugin that automatically generates audio using AI voice technology. That means the reading is computer-generated—but every article is still written by real people, with real voices, from right here in our community.

We’re committed to sharing human stories—with the help of a little technology to make them more accessible to everyone.

Not every article has audio just yet, but most future stories will—and we’ve already begun adding it to some recent ones. If there’s a specific story you’d love to hear, just leave a comment on that article or contact us. We’ll prioritize those requests first.

More languages, more voices, more inclusion

We also have the ability to generate multilingual audio options—because just being a small town doesn’t mean we can’t include everybody. We’re working on improving this feature, but if you or someone you know needs access to a story in a different language, please reach out and let us know. We want to hear from you—and we’ll do our best to make it happen.

Soon, You’ll Be Able to Listen to Small Town Post Like a Podcast

Our podcast-style feed will make it even easier to listen to Small Town Post on your favorite platform. Stay tuned!

Freedom to grow, freedom to include

Independence Day is about more than history—it’s about the freedom to evolve, the power to listen, and the responsibility to build something better together. That’s what we’re doing at Small Town Post: one story at a time, one voice at a time.

Thanks for reading—and now, for listening. We’re excited to offer more ways to connect, and we hope you’ll listen to Small Town Post wherever life takes you.
