Civil War Reenactment at Daniels Farmstead Returns This Weekend
Step Back in Time: Civil War Reenactment Weekend at Daniels Farmstead
This June, witness history come alive in Blackstone as Daniels Farmstead hosts an immersive Civil War Reenactment Weekend in partnership with the New England Brigade. Taking place on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29, this special event will transport visitors back to the 1800s with dramatic live battles, community vendors, local food, and more.
This isn’t an every-year event—Civil War reenactments at Daniels Farmstead are held occasionally, making this a special opportunity for the community to experience living history in a local setting.
What You Can Expect
Live Battle Reenactments
Each afternoon at 1 PM, Union and Confederate reenactors will take the field for a full-scale, narrated battle. With marching formations, cannon fire, and historically accurate uniforms, these demonstrations offer a powerful and vivid window into the past.
Glimpses of Camp Life
Experience a variety of historical demonstrations and interactive encampments that bring Civil War soldier life to vivid reality. Enjoy camp life demonstrations, visit the sutler’s market featuring period-style goods, and listen to engaging storytelling that brings the era to life. Don’t miss the military hospital exhibit, as well as impressive military drills and a dress parade showcasing authentic uniforms and formations..

Local Vendors & Community Booths
Shop and explore a variety of booths featuring locally made goods, crafts, and specialty products. While not necessarily Civil War-themed, local vendors add to the festive, community-focused atmosphere of the weekend.
Classic Fare from Doris’s Kitchen
Enjoy picnic favorites like hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, and veggie burgers served fresh from Doris’s Kitchen, located in the farmstead’s original carriage house.
Homemade Desserts by Galliford’s Restaurant
Don’t miss the sweet side of the event—Galliford’s Restaurant will be offering freshly made desserts to round out your day.
Getting There Is Easy
Parking is available on-site at Daniels Farmstead, but space is limited and may fill up quickly. To make your visit stress-free, a free shuttle service will also run continuously between JFK Elementary School and the farmstead throughout the event. A bus will be available for the public and it will run continuously from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday, transporting visitors to and from Daniels Farm. It’s convenient, accessible, and a great way to avoid the limited on-site parking.
Why It Matters
This weekend is more than just an event—it’s also a key fundraiser for the Daniels Farmstead Foundation, Inc., which works year-round to preserve and maintain the historic property.
Proceeds from this year’s event will support:
- Ongoing capital repairs and maintenance
- Installation of a new fire alarm system
- Restoration of the cider mill floor, with hopes of eventually giving live cider-making demonstrations in the historic press building
Your visit helps sustain one of Blackstone’s most beloved landmarks and keeps local history alive for future generations.
